Agnes was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on June 27, 1934. She grew up the youngest of nine children. Agnes worked when she was a teenager as a candy striper at the LaVerendre Hospital and later at Tichborne’s Insurance Agency.
In Fort Frances, Agnes met and married the love of her life, (Milton) Lorne Swanson. They were married January 8, 1957. Agnes and Lorne lived in Churchill, Halifax and Pembroke, Ontario prior to settling in Pinawa in 1965. They made many lasting friendships in these locations.
Lorne and Agnes believe they had found paradise when they purchased their home in Pinawa Manitoba. Located in the heart of the Canadian shield, surrounded by beautiful trees and rocks, they raised four children, James, Gary, Tim and Lisa. Many family dinners and memories were made at 18 Devonshire. Agnes is well known for her lovely gardens and her sharp skills at the bridge table.
The family would like to extend our appreciation to nurse practitioner, Lisa Kroeker, Lana Romano and homecare staff, Z’Anne and the staff at Ironwood Gardens.
There will be a service 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Pinawa Lutheran Church and a separate interment in Pinawa at a later date.
