April 22, 1940 to December 25, 2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Albert Leonard Ruchkall of Beausejour Manitoba. He will be lovingly remembered by Iris, his wife of 45 years, his son Sheldon and daughters Ardine Starodub (Ron) and Leanna Rihal (Amarjit). Albert also leaves four precious grandchildren; Janine, Lauren, Ziara and Zayne. Saddened by his passing are his sisters, Joyce Ptak and Violet Regula (Ken), as well as numerous loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Albert was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Anna, his brothers Julian and Edward, and his sister Jean.
Albert was born in Beausejour and grew up in Hazelglen. He married Iris on August 7, 1965 and together they shared their first home in Glass before building on the homestead in Hazelglen in 1972. Albert would often reminisce about surveying highways and working construction in Winnipeg as a young man. He worked as a custodian with the Transcona-Springfield School Division for 32 years but his true passion was his farm. He took great pride in his trees, gardens, and yard which he kept immaculate. In 2006 Albert and Iris decided it was time for a change. To enjoy their retirement, they sold their farm and built a new home in Beausejour which allowed them the freedom to travel and spend more time with friends and family.
Albert was handy at many things and always had a project and a story to share. He was quick to help others by sharing his time and knowledge. Albert was an exceptional conversationalist and could make friends in an instant. His sense of humor and quick wit drew people to him. He lived life to the fullest each day whether he was farming, curling, fishing or just spending time at home. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, Manitoba.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Beausejour and St. Boniface hospitals for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity of your choice.
Condolences for the family may be offered at www.SoberingFuneralChapel.com.
