Albert Wolfram

July 2, 1930 – June 27, 2021

With deep sadness the family announces the passing of Albert (Curly) Wolfram, on Sunday, June 27, 2021 with his daughter by his side.

Albert is survived by his 3 children, Allan (Joyce), Gail, and Tyrone (Connie); his treasured grandchildren, Julia (Mario), Andrea (Justin), Teri-Lyn (Craig); his much-loved great-grandchildren Ella, Autumn, Violet, Hunter, Wylder and William. 

He had a very special bond with his granddaughters, who he loved dearly; at every visit or call they would always say, “I Love You Grandpa” and he would always reply, “I Love You More”.

He is also survived by his loved sisters-in-law Evelyn and Elaine Wolfram and beloved in-laws Ethel, Judy, Diane, Harry (Carol), Ernie, Dennis (Marilyn), Len, Kenneth and Donni as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his partner and the love of his life, Adeline, his wife of 64 years, who passed January 13, 2019; his father Fred Wolfram; his much loved mother Olga Wolfram and his beloved grandson-in-law, Mike.  Albert was the last surviving sibling in his family, predeceased by Henry, Rudy, Gustav, Lillian, Martha, Emily, Pauline, Helene and Alvina as well as many of his loved nieces and nephews and tragically too young, his nephew Derrick Wolfram and niece Heather Cornwell.

Albert was born and raised on the family farm near Seven Sisters Falls.  He moved to Winnipeg where he met the love of his life, Adeline.  The couple married at Knox United Church in Winnipeg on September 4, 1954 and began their life together.  After marriage they moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba, where Albert worked at the Mill and they started their family with son Allan and daughter Gail.  From Pine Falls they had an opportunity to manage a gas station & restaurant and moved to Vermillion Bay, Ontario. But the pull of family had them moving back to Winnipeg, where they went into partnership with Gus & Eve and started the restaurant, the Blue Boy Café. Everyone knew the Blue Boy and many family members had their first job and got their start in life there. Their son Tyrone was born shortly after moving back to Winnipeg completing their family of 3.

Albert was a true entrepreneur, who made his own way in life.  He was instilled with a sense of independence and had a strong work ethic; a self-taught man who was very handy and not afraid to tackle any projects or overcome any obstacles.  Albert was a true family man, he put family first; he was practical but also generous with his time and gave many a helping hand. Albert knew how to enjoy life and nothing pleased him more than gathering with family and friends, playing guitar and singing old country music with Rudy and Gus. It wasn’t often that Dad took time off work, but every year he managed to take us camping creating wonderful memories. Dad & Mom then bought the “2 acres”, where they built their dream home and where many family gatherings were held.

Once the nest was empty and Albert and Adeline retired, off they went travelling all across North America.  They travelled with Gus and Eve and with Harry and Pinky, Danny and Marilyn, settling down for winters in Yuma, for sightseeing, playing cards and golfing.

Albert and Adeline always had an open door, where all were welcome and a pot of coffee was always on. Their home was filled with love and laughter.

Allan, Gail and Tyrone & their families would like to thank their Auntie Diane, a true friend, for all she did for Dad. A big thank you to Denise for being his much loved personal hairdresser, she always made him smile, and to Kenny for his regular phone calls when visits were no longer allowed. A special thank you to Andree, for her care and kindness that she showed our father in his last weeks, and a sincere thank you to his caregivers at the Maples Long Term Care Home.

Albert was a strong man who fought a long battle with both cancer and covid.  He told us he had lived a good life and was blessed with a wonderful family.

We will miss his smile!

A Celebration of Life will be held September 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour, Manitoba, followed by interment at the Mars Hill Cemetery.
