Allan Gould

March 28, 1929 — March 28, 2012

1929 ~ 2012

The sun rose on December 31, 1929 and set on August 23, 2012.  Al (Poppa) Gould passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 82 years.

Besides his loving wife Marjorie of 62 years of marriage, he will also be remembered by his children: Norma (Bill) and their children Jeff (Kelly), Chad (Sara), and Jody; Marilyn (Clerio) and their children Kyle (Lisa), Trevor (deceased), Asha, and Jesse; Allan and his children Kris (Michelle), Katie (Paul) and their mother Nancy; and Brian (Glennda) and their children Jesse and Ian.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren Damien, Jeremy, Evan, and Jaxon and his brother Frank and sister Faith Chambers.

Al was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 37 years, holding many positions in the corporation, retiring in 1985 as Administrative Manager for Kettle/Long Spruce generating stations.

His dream was to build a golf course.  Black Bear Golf Club has now been in operation for 12 years.  He built the golf course with the help of his family and traded in his horse WHISKEY for a power cart named JITNEY.  He was master operator of light and heavy equipment…

Poppa loved to read, play cribbage, and visit the casino.  He left this world with his sense of humour; a happy man with his family by his side.

A celebration of Al’s life was held on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Black Bear Golf Club at Lee River from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations in Al’s memory may be made to Childrens’ Wish Foundation of Canada, Manitoba & Nunavut Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
