Peacefully, with family by her side, Margit passed away four months short of her 98th birthday. Margit was predeceased by her husband Robert, grandson Steven, and daughters-in-law Linda and Kim.
Margit is survived by her seven children: Richard (Jackie); Gordon (Karen); Susan (Earl); Lydia McCoy (Shane); Randy (Barb); Glen (Cheryl); and Dawn Borgford (Kevin), as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margit was the second oldest of the nine children of Sven and Anna Nilsson. She was predeceased by brothers Nils, Eric, Oscar, Albert, and Harry; and is survived by one brother Herman (Elaine), sisters Diane Neal and Dagmar Zechel, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mom was born in Gunnarn, Sweden, and immigrated to Canada as an infant. Most of her life was spent in the Lee River and Lettonia areas of the RM of Lac du Bonnet. She enjoyed bingo, cribbage, and floor curling, as well as ice curling in her younger years. She was an avid knitter, crocheter, quilter, and highly skilled at most fibre crafts. She was a member of the horticultural society, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the Pioneer Club.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the home care team, Pinawa Hospital, LdB Personal Care Home, Dr. Bruneau, and Dr. Papetti.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025.
