Alma McCormac, nee Huget, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at Golden Links Lodge, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Alma was born January 28, 1928 in Lemberg, Saskatchewan to the late Adam and Karolyn Huget and was the youngest of 9 siblings. She was raised in Lemberg and enjoyed many wonderful summers at Regina Beach with her family. Alma attended business secretarial school in Regina and then went on to work for the Department of Highways. In 1955 she married Desmond McCormac and moved to Sarnia, Ont where their sons Brad (1957) and John (1958) were born. Alma always spoke fondly of their time in Sarnia where they had many close friends.
In 1966 Alma and Des moved to Pinawa and made it their home. Her passion was spending time with family and the many close friends she had. Many of these friendships were forged golfing and playing bridge. She enjoyed the many clubs, lunches and social network that life in Pinawa offered. Alma worked for many years for the school board office and was especially proud of the time she spent volunteering on the board which included time as its’ chairman. In retirement, Alma and Des loved golfing and travelling and were able to enjoy Europe, Australia and the warmth of Florida, Texas, Arizona and California during the winters.
Alma is predeceased by her husband of 47 years Des. Left to cherish her memory are her children Brad and Karen and John and Susan, grandchildren Brett, Lindsay, Dana, Curtis, and Scott.
The family wish to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge for their kindness and care given to mom during the past 2 years.
