On May 4th, 2024, Anne Woligroski passed away peacefully at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Michael Woligroski Jr, and her brother, Edward Przednowek. She is survived by her children, Patricia Thibault (Gerald) and Ron Woligroski (Patricia Zirk), her grandchildren, Andréa Thibault (Christopher), Brenden Woligroski (Alexia), and Trevor Woligroski (Connie), and her great-grandchildren, Kélia and Gabi Haskins, Olive and Ellie Woligroski, and Isaac Woligroski. Anne is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Stella Garbolinski and Marie Rose Przednowek, and several nieces and nephews.
Anne with an “e”, as she liked to be referred to, was born to Tekla (Oneschuk) and John Przednowek on December 18th, 1928, in Allegra, Manitoba. Although times were lean, she talked about her childhood very fondly and would light up telling stories of all of her farm animals’ antics. She met her future husband Mike at a barn dance where his band was playing. They got married on October 18th, 1947 and lived on his family farm in Lowland. They had two children, Patricia and Ron, and Anne proved to be the most doting, loving mother. In 1966, they built a house in Beausejour and Anne resided there until she moved to East Gate Lodge 6 years ago.
Mom was a very social person, loved to entertain and to be out visiting. Together with her extended family and friends, there were countless talks over tea, picnics, camping trips, berry and mushroom picking excursions, and trips to the States. She loved to bake and was proficient in it, always having fresh cake or pies to offer visitors. Mom was also a devoted member of her church and the Catholics Women’s League. In the summer, she spent a lot of time tending her much loved and extremely large garden and flower beds. Mom would then spend a good portion of early fall canning and making jams. During the winter, she would turn her attention to crocheting, knitting, and her bowling team.
When the grandchildren arrived, Grannie could not have shown a deeper love for them. She spent countless hours babysitting them, attending all their events, and giving them everything to which their parents had previously said no. When her 5 great-grandchildren were born, she loved them just as fiercely.
In the past 6 years, Grannie lived at East Gate Lodge and was extremely well cared for by the staff there. She loved participating in the activities, (Bingo being her favorite), making scrubbies (hundreds of them), doing puzzles, and watching all the birds in her outdoor feeder.
Anne was the matriarch of our family who kept us close to our Ukrainian roots. She had a subtly sarcastic sense of humor, an unmatched generosity towards the people she loved, and a unique way of speaking her mind. She will be missed beyond measure.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Beausejour, MB.
The family would like to thank the amazing and loving staff at East Gate Lodge. In lieu of flowers, if family or friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to their Recreation Department.
