Peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at Beausejour District Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 67. Barry was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 18, 1943 at the Miseracordia Hospital.

Barry leaves behind his wife Lorraine, daughters Alana Palmer and Dena Henderson, partner Norman DuPont and their children Zoe and Tia, his son Dax Henderson, wife Trish and their children Tori, Jordan, Ethan and Zachary. Also cherishing Barry’s memory is his Aunt Doris Mitchell, Uncle Stanley Mitchell, Uncle Johnny Mitchell, brother Leslie Hendrickson, cousins Freda Powell (Leonard) and Nolan Powell and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, loved ones and friends. Extended family includes Irma Churchill (Harvey), Aaron Churchill with his children Desiray and Matthew, daughter in-law Krystyna and granddaughter Brooke-Lynne, Kim Churchill with her children Brandon Lambert and Graham Churchill. Barry was predeceased by his parents John Henry and Zoe Mae Palmer and grandparents Ada and Harry Churchill.

Barry was a welder by trade and worked at numerous mines. He was employed by Cementation Contractors at Red Lake Gold Mine until his retirement. Over the years Barry acquired numerous close friends and was well like by everyone who knew him. Barry was a kind, generous and trustworthy man who was always willing to help those in need.

Barry was also a devoted father and husband who had unconditional love for his family. Barry will e sadly missed and always loved by family and friends.

The family sincerely acknowledges friends Irene Mazur, Margaret Opyc, Shirley Keller, Irma Churchill, Kim and Curt Germaine and Luke and Regan Ingeberg.

Special thanks to Dr. Campbell and nursing staff with a special thank you to Jolene and Scott at Beausejour Hospital. Thank you for all your help in making Barry’s journey a peaceful one.

Viewing for friends is Friday, March 4 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend the funeral service on Saturday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with a luncheon to follow at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 132. Pallbearers are Aaron Churchill, Matthew Churchill, Shauna Currie, Desiray Churchill, Brandon Lambert and Jerrod Robinson. Honourary Pallbearers are Nolan Powell, Albert Voss, Larry Singbeil, Dave Worone, Clifford Opyc, Joe Romanishen and Rodger Boucher.
