Bernice Irene Stefaniuk (nee Kutcher)

April 1, 1939 — October 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Bernice Stefaniuk on October 18, 2024, at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home. She leaves to mourn her husband of nearly 58 years John, sons Bryan, Barry (Jo Ann), daughter Janet (Jimmy), grandsons Dustin, Teague, Joseph (Erin), and great-grandchildren Bradley and Emma. She is also survived by her brother Barry, sisters-in-law Jean, Stella (Henry), Sylvia, and many nieces and nephews.

Bernice was born and raised in Dauphin, and lived in Sudbury, Toronto, Vancouver, and Dauphin again before settling in Pinawa in 1976. She packed a lifetime of memories in those few moves, and we have the pictures to prove it! While in Pinawa, Bernice worked at the public pool, Canada Post, and Hudson’s Bay. She was always there to drive the kids to hockey tournaments and sew figure skating outfits. She made many lifelong friends in the community, and from the casino circuit and barn dances she loved going to. In later years poor health and mobility may have slowed her down, but she was sharp as a tack and tough as nails to the end.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and health care professionals that treated Bernice with respect, kindness, and compassion at the facilities where she was admitted, and at home through the years. At her request cremation has taken place and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a local community organization or charity of your choice.
