It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blair Wayne Thompson on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
Blair is survived by his children, Denise and Alix Thompson; sister Tracy (Fred) Pereira; granddaughter Shyanne Morin; nephews Korey and Graeme Pereira and niece Robyn Pereira. Blair was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Verna Thompson.
Born on December 25th, 1958 to Gordon and Verna (nee Kenyon) Thompson in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Blair grew up in St. Norbert and spent much time with family and friends travelling, playing sports (curling, hockey and baseball) and enjoying/creating music. He later moved to Winnipeg and later the country in Vivian, MB.
Blair always had an electric personality and would light up any room with his big smile, laugh and never-ending jokes. He had a positive attitude towards life and was very generous with his time, whether it be helping someone fix a car or a household building project. The type of man to give you the shirt off his back, a true heart of gold.
Blair worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for 27 years at the City of Winnipeg. His love of hot rods and motorcycles was a life-long passion. He also enjoyed golfing, cooking, fishing, playing crib, music, gardening, travelling to Texas and animals, especially his beloved kitties.
He will be terribly missed by his family and friends. We will remember his unique ways, his love for life and his hilarious quotes and euphemisms.
The family would like to thank the staff at East Gate Lodge for their exceptional care and compassion they showed Blair during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Society of Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace Red Stuff
Love and miss you, Dad.
