April 26, 1955 – April 4, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Corinne Rumak (nee Lesosky) on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 at the age of 65. Corinne is survived by her husband Peter, sons Mike, Sam (Leslie) and Dan (Britney), grandsons Maxen, Arlo and Jack, her sister Terry and brother Phil, sister-in-law Joan, niece Jocelyn and nephew Dane. She is predeceased by her parents Catherine (nee Apostle) and Casmer Lesosky and her mother-in-law Margaret Rumak (nee Paul). Corinne loved her family with every part of her being.

Corinne was energized by the people around her. She cherished her lifelong friendships with Janet, Marlene, Elaine, Cindy, Eva, and Annette; her friends Bernice, Jim, Linda and Richard from the CNIB; and her special bond with family friend Allison. The full list of Corinne’s friends is long and extensive, and every person on that list felt the warmth of her love.

Corinne met Peter at the Thalberg Hall on June 21, 1972 and from that day on they were inseparable. They loved to travel, and together they took trips to the East and West Coast of Canada, to the United States, and to the Yukon. Corinne went to Medjugorje, Yugoslavia with her two aunts, Sister Anne Olga and Auntie Anne. An experience of a lifetime, she witnessed the miracle of the sun spinning, walked up Apparition Hill, and attended mass at St. James Church. Corinne’s family adventures to English Lake, Boundary Lake and Eleanor Lake are legendary, where she enjoyed the water, fishing, and late nights playing cards, watching the stars and listening to the frogs in the spring. Her cooking skills were unrivaled, creating delicious family meals with recipes known only to her.

Corinne was a whirlwind of enthusiasm and energy. She often said that it was her duty to help care for the residents at the St. Amant Centre where she worked for 28 years. Corinne was active in many groups within the local community. She especially enjoyed her time at the CNIB and the Stead Senior Group, where she participated in many group activities and met many close friends. She did not let her physical limitations slow her down, and she radiated generosity and kindness to everyone she met. One of her favourite sayings was “We have to help them”.

Corinne will be greatly missed. Her earthly toils are over, and she is now travelling the universe. God bless you.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation as an expression of sympathy.
