It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darrell Heckert on December 8, 2024, at the age of 66. Darrell was born in March 1958 to William and Margaret (nee Schwark) Heckert.
Darrell, also known as D, DH, or The Farmer, had a great passion to pursue a farming career beginning in grade 12. He worked at it for the next 41 years until his health no longer allowed him to continue. He loved to take rides to the farm and check everything out.
Darrell met the love of his life, Susan, in 2000. Darrell knew this would be a special relationship from the first day he met her. They became life partners and stuck together through thick and thin.
Darrell was preceded in joining the Lord by his father and mother, Bill and Margaret; his sister Darlene (in infancy); his brothers, Dennis and Durwin; sister-in-law Bev Neisteter; and his father-in-law Gerald Antymis.
Darrell is survived by his life partner Susan; stepsons Jason (Leanna) and Blaine; step-grandchildren Hannah and Sarah; sister Sharlynne (Dave); brother Darren (Donna); nieces and nephews Larissa (Matt), Shayla , Kristopher, Candyce (Matt), Kristen (Carter), Tyson (Grace), and Lorinda; great nieces and nephew Troy, Eden, Farrah, Quinn, Charlee, Jemaine, Preslie; mother- in- law Alexis; brother-in-law Dean (Christine) and their children Rachel (Troy) and Clayton (Kyara); sister-in-law Lee (Terry) and their children Mack (Spencer) and Alexis; close friends Gayard, Allan and Wanda, Marc and Serena, Dale and Carrie; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A funeral Service will be held Friday, December 13 with viewing from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service will be starting at 2:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E, Beausejour Manitoba with interment to follow at the Beausejour Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darren Heckert, Tyson Heckert, Clarence Heckert, Jason Otto, Blaine Otto, and Clayton Antymis. Honorary pallbearers will be Larissa Chezick, Shayla Mariash, Kristopher Mariash, Candyce Mroz, Kristen Clackson, Lorinda Tripp, Rachel Hlady, Mack Loeb and Alexis Loeb.
Darrell’s family wishes to express their deep gratitude to his palliative care team, Laura Klammer and Dr. Donna Puff for their tremendous support and care; to the Beausejour Hospital Staff who cared for Darrell; to Jason, Blaine and Darrell’s close friends group, for their support and help over these past many months; to those who checked in on Darrell and Susan to make sure they were okay and for your prayers; to Pastor Terry Gudmundson for his support and guidance; and to Libby and the staff of Sobering Funeral Chapel and for their support and guidance during this difficult time.
