David Bell

David Bell passed from this life on Friday, April 10, 2020. He was born in Beith, Scotland to William and Mary Bell on October 6, 1930. He emigrated to Canada as a young man finding employment with the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited initially in Deep River, Ontario and moving to Pinawa, Manitoba as an early resident of the community. He remained in Pinawa following his retirement and until his health failed him. He resided at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour from August 2018 until his passing.

David was predeceased by his parents and his brother in law, James McCrorie. He is survived by his sister – Reena, his children – Mary-Jane (Peter), Allan (Sandra) and Lorraine (Scott) and his grandchildren – Margaret, David, Calum, Caitlin and Sarah.

David was a regular at many of the local watering holes in Pinawa and area during his retirement years. He would sit with his coffee (or his beer) and watch the world go by. As his mobility decreased, he spent many hours soaking in the Manitoba sunshine, first on his deck at home and later in the East Gate courtyard.

The family would like to acknowledge the community of Pinawa, especially his neighbours, Kevin and Dawn Borgford and Barb Lambert, for their support that allowed David to stay safely in the community. We are also grateful to all of the staff of East Gate Lodge for their care during the past two years.

Thank you to the facility and regional administration for finding a creative way for his family to be with him as he finished his journey while keeping others in his community isolated and safe.

At David’s request, cremation has taken place and no formal ceremony will be held.
