July 17, 1924 to January 2, 2011
On Sunday, January 2, 2011, David Falk, aged 86 years, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side. Dave leaves to mourn his wife Louise (Schalla) of 62 years, his children Clarence (Marcelle), Norman (Connie), Gordon (Joanne) and Beverly and his grandchildren Jarrod (Megan), Dana, Eric, Ian, Whitney (Ryan) and Amy. He is survived by one brother George (Tina) and was predeceased by his parents Peter and Suzanne, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Dad worked for the City of Steinbach for 23 years and he was self-employed brick layer. Besides his family, his other love was his antique museum, Broken Wheel Antiques and could often be seen at auction sales socializing and looking for the next big find. He even had his own permanent auction sale number. He took pride in his yard, mowing the lawn with perfect lines and planting flowers.
Dad and Mom greatly enjoyed their trips to Detroit Lakes every summer. There he could scrounge for antiques to his heart’s content.
Dad also loved filling the Christmas stockings for his grandchildren, making sure there was at least one toy and lots of oranges and peanuts, and always a box of cracker jacks inside.
Dad walked closely with the Lord throughout his life. His faith remained strong till the Lord took him home where we know he’ll be waiting to greet us one day.
The family would like to thank neighbours Harold and Jean Borkowsky, the palliative care program, homecare and Dr. Krahn, as well as everyone that has helped over the past year and kept him in their thoughts and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Memorial Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Officiating is Pastor Al Maier, with the Funeral Service taking place Wednesday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street, Steinbach, MB with viewing prior to the service.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God,
believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions;
if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare
a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and receive you to Myself;
that where I am, there you may be also.
And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
John 14:1-4
