David Leslie Anderson

May 9, 1946 — September 6, 2021

May 9, 1946 ~ September 6, 2021

It is with extreme sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Dave Anderson of Lac du Bonnet, after a very short illness.  He was 75 years young.

Dave is survived by his grade school sweetheart (of 56 years) Alice Mae King; sisters Ingrid Hiebert, Tova (Ted) Anderson and brother Don (June) Elliot.  Dave is also survived by his son Mike (Sharon) Lanteigne; Linda (Mikes’ mother); grandchildren Milley and Camryn; friends, neighbours and co-workers.  He loved us all and we loved him.  We will miss him so much; his wit, humour, sarcasm advice, one-liners, advice and expertise.

Dave was born May 9, 1946 to Lambert and Madeline Anderson, in Fannystelle.  In 1956 being a foster child, moving to Arden.  It was there he met Alice Mae.  The rest is history and they lived happily ever after until his untimely death.

Dave worked so many jobs in his life, it is hard to remember them all; a farm hand in Brookdale, a miner in Snow Lake, Tuktoyaktuk, ambulance driver in The Pas, cook at Limestone and Broadlands, Merchant Navy in Vietnam, and others.  He was a loyal employee for 27+ years with Jay-Em Hauling and recently with AML.  He loved all his various careers.  He did them all.  He especially loved driving the northern winter roads.  His favourite T.V. shows, Ice Road Truckers and Storage Wars.

Dave was a very enthusiastic fisherman and loved fishing with his mother-in-law Joyce.  They loved the challenge of cat-fishing and the fun of ice-fishing.

Dave was a fighter throughout his life.  He had a strong will to live and love.  He did not let all the troubles of the world get the better of him.  His attitude, although very stubborn, was always positive.  He was kind, honest, caring, generous and happy-go-lucky.  He lived a full life doing the things he loved; fishing, afternoon coffee meetings at Drifters, stopping in at Riverdale for Georgette’s garlic soup, chatting, telling stories. Wherever he went and whatever he did he made amazing friends along the way.  Dave had an infectious way of making lifetime friends (Calvin, Vicky, Billy and Doreen) and his spirit will live on in all of us.

Special thanks to Dr. Sayfee, St. Boniface Hospital and especially nurse Colleen.
