Dereck Evecsyn

It is with heavy hearts, and much love, that we, the family, announce the passing of Dereck Evecsyn. Dereck passed away while surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, after a courageous battle at the age of 42, at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Dereck will be lovingly remembered by his son Darieus; his Mom and Dad; sister Erin (Adam); nephew Connor; partner Kim; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his beloved cats, “the girls”, Phenix and Snowball. Dereck was predeceased by all of his grandparents; uncle John; and uncle Rene.

We will always remember Dereck as a genuine and authentic person, with a quirky sense of humor.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at CancerCare, D6, and MICU at HSC, for the exceptional and compassionate care they gave to Dereck and the family.

Donations in Dereck’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

As per Dereck’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held.
