It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Diane Lynn Bialek (neé Kamaraus) on November 19th, 2024.
Diane was born November 22nd, 1952, in Beausejour, Manitoba to Kasmir and Adeline Kamaraus (neé Scheer, later Podruski). In 1954, she was promoted to Big Sister when her brother Robert was born.
Diane attended Beausejour Elementary School and Beausejour Collegiate Institute where she made many friends. She also kept in touch with several of the residents of “the old neighbourhood” who were just like family.
Always a hard worker, Diane started working at Clariss Tea Room and then Macleods where she sharpened her skills of practical joking.
In February 1973, Diane met Ken and applied for the position of roadie/groupie. Hauling equipment up and down venue stairs and dancing all night kept her short legs in great shape! On August 27th, 1977, they made their duet official and got married. A couple years later, they took on a vocalist named Kerry who screamed her lungs out for six months.
Diane got her training and worked as a florist for 15 years. She loved making arrangements and bouquets for weddings and births as it meant families being formed. During her work as a florist, she created bonds with coworkers that have lasted until her dying day.
Deciding on a change, Diane then worked at The Lamplighter, and then later the front desk of The Super 8/Superior Inn. She was very proud of her pineapple pin! Diane was also always thinking of creative ways to make the long term guests feel welcome, especially the CP Rail and MB Hydro workers. She’s decorated a few trucks in her time! Working at the hotel, her favourite time of year was during the CPTC races and cheering on the racers staying there. She got to know the families and collected the programs of the races.
Diane was a crafty woman. With a group of like-minded ladies, they started the Beausejour Craft Show and Sale and kept it running for 36 years! Donations went to various community groups, bursaries given to several graduates, and many friends were made among the crafters over the years. Not only did she volunteer with the craft show, but she also volunteered with the Beausejour Lions, Beausejour Legion Branch #132, a member of the Brokenhead River Community Hall board, cancer canvassing, and Togs ‘n Treasures.
Diane is survived by husband Ken, daughter Kerry (Mike), grandcat Yondu, sisters-in-law Wilma Klann and Jane Bialek, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Diane was predeceased by her parents Kasmir and Adeline, stepfather Mike Podruski, brother Robert, parents-in-law John and Nellie Bialek, sisters-in-law Dorothy Kamaraus and Sharon Want, brothers-in-law Rudy Klann, Lloyd Bialek and Fred Want, and very special uncle William Scheer.
Cremation has already taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel; 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour, MB.
Special thank you to the Seven Oaks renal team and urgent care, the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre and Seven Oaks General Hospital, as well as Dr. Embil.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Diane’s name to the Brokenhead River Community Foundation.
