1929 ~ 2016
A good man left us. We, his friends, make known the death from cancer of Dieter Kuehne at age 86.
All his life he worked as a bricklayer. His brick and stone work can be seen in Manitoba and neighbouring Ontario. He also worked as a miner in Thompson during one winter.
Whenever possible he roamed the wilderness either on hiking trails or in his canoe, alone or with friends. Also he was one of very, very few who successfully escaped from a communist work-camp in East-Berlin in 1954 and made it to the west.
In Germany, Dieter leaves behind his sisters Dodi, Beate, Edda and other family. In Manitoba, we are his sad friends: Connie, Norman, Lise, Lyle, Jacqueline and many others. We feel priviledged to have known him. He never lost his good humour. Dieter is our “Legend in Stone”.
His ashes will be strewn under trees he planted, artful stonework he created, and lakes and wilderness he explored.
Er war ein treuer Sohn des deutschen Volkes
