April 4, 1922 – July 23, 2011
Donald Vickers passed away July 23, 2011 after a long life, well-lived.
He will be remembered by his wife and best friend Ingrid, and his brother David (Sheelagh).
Donald was born in Hamilton to Herbert and Maggie (Wilson). He graduated from Delta Collegiate, then served as a pilot with the RCAF for five years, during and after WWII. He enjoyed careers in many fields such as insurance, the correctional system, flying with the Department of Lands & Forests, and audio-visual sales. He retired after many years heading up audio-visual technology with the Winnipeg School Board.
He was an avid collector of many things, including music and flying memorabilia, and enjoyed involvement with other collectors, and trading on EBAY. Donald was an ardent outdoor and nature lover, and enjoyed his cats, as well as the rural Traverse Bay area, where he moved after retirement.
Cremation has taken place, as per Donald’s request, and a service will be held at a later date.
