1919 ~ 2012
It is with deep sadness, but wonderful memories, that we announce the peaceful passing of mom on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the Beausejour Hospital.
The Bush family farm, outside of Beausejour, was the site of her birth in 1919 and also of her marriage to Julius DeMarco in 1941. They had four children: Dale (Janice), Janice (Ron Selch), Linden (Donna), and Shelley. Mom is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Her sister Jean Cunningham, of Vancouver, is the only surviving sibling of nine children.
Mom’s first love was her family and she loved us all with an unfailing, unconditional, love. She enjoyed being outside in her yard and garden in the summer and liked to curl, knit, play cribbage and bingo. When Alzheimer’s began to steal mom’s memory and cause subtle changes in her personality, she continued to maintain her quick wit and sense of humour.
We are a grateful family for having mom with us as long as we did, and also for the love and support shown to her and us by the Adult Day Care Program, Home Care, and the staff of the Primary Health Care Centre. A special thank-you goes to Dr. Daphne Schmidt.
A Celebration of her Life was held on Monday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Cremation has taken place. Interment followed in the Beausejour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
Offer Condolence for the family of Edith Mae DeMarco (nee Bush)
