1932 ~ 2016
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Edna Rosin on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at East Gate Lodge after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sharon (Ken), son Garry (Maria), daughter Debra and son Brian (Roberta) as well as grandchildren Melissa (Kent), Jessica (Matt), and Marina (Evan) and great granddaughter Emma. She also leaves to mourn her brother Leo (Gerty), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband Arthur (2009) and siblings Alex, Lydia, Edith, Arnold, Elsie, Wanda, Charlie, Ed, and Ruth.
Mom was born on the family farm in Green Bay on April 2, 1932 and was the youngest of 11 children. Growing up she was very active with the 4H Club learning how to sew as a young child and then becoming 4H leader. Mom and Dad met when Dad was living just across the river and were married in 1950. While Dad commuted to Winnipeg every day, Mom took care of raising 4 children, growing a large garden to feed the family with fresh and canned produce while still taking care of all the household chores, including washing clothes with the wringer washer right up until she moved into East Gate in 2009! Mom was also famous for her baking including birthday angel food cakes and Christmas cookies. She won many ribbons and bags of flour at the Beausejour Fair for her entries.
Mom’s fondest memories were of growing up in the lovely home on the farm in Green Bay. She valued hard work and a simple life. Her greatest pleasures were hearing of her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Thanks to the caring staff at East Gate Lodge.
