It is with immense heartbreak and sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Elmer Raymond Hintz on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 at Riverview Health Centre.
His memory will forever be treasured by his partner of 25 years Suzanne (Susie) Mondor, his daughters Kari & Jason Sylvester (Jesse), Ainsley & Darryl Pederson (Kaleb), his sisters and brother Helen Tober, Alfred & Marie Hintz, Edna & Roland Otto, Loreen Kenyon, Adeline & Arthur Kopp. Susie’s children Rheal Mondor & Caroline Dumont, Janelle & Jean Lafrance (Jeremie, Charite, Thomas,Sophia & Therese), Bruno & Kirsty Mondor (Arthur & George) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.
Elmer was born on January 6th, 1948, the youngest of 8 children to Julius and Helena Hintz, in Brokenhead, MB. He was baptized on June 27th, 1948 and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Greenwald, MB. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Beausejour and was a current member of Faith Lutheran Church in Winnipeg.
Elmer was predeceased by his parents, sisters Dorothy Hinz, Olga Okerlund and brothers in-law Ben Tober, Myron Kenyon and Vern Okerlund.
Dad was a trucker by trade. He started his career at Naaykens Transport in Beausejour, then as an Owner/Operator for A & H in Winnipeg followed by Kindersley Transport also in Winnipeg. He retired on October 31st, 2017.
Elmer enjoyed spending time with his family, going for his morning coffee and paper at Robin’s Donuts, listening to live bands perform around Winnipeg with Susie. Dad was the life of the party. He always had a joke to share or a song to sing. We’ve never known anyone else that could tell a joke as well as he did.
Dad was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2019.

Thank you to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and staff at Cancer Care Manitoba and the Riverview Health Centre for the loving care you showed Elmer.
He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working
For the ones he loved the most.
His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries
Went unspoken too.
He was there…a firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold on to
In times of stress and strife.
A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man that we called Dad.
