1914 ~ 2012
It is with a heavy heart that Carole announces the passing of her mother Elsie Howcroft, of Seven Sisters Falls, on Monday April 16, 2012, at the age of 97 years.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband Jack, by her parents Frederick and Katie Schultz, by sisters Katie, Lena and Ida and brother Fred.
Elsie is survived by her sister Lillian, her brother Albert, by daughter Carole (Bob) Klapprat and grandsons Jason and Everett, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition, she leaves cherished friends and supporters especially Gord and Eddy.
Elsie was born in Seven Sisters Falls to Frederick and Katie Schultz on October 9, 1914. With the exception of the adventure of living and working in the state of Washington and a brief period in Winnipeg, she spent her entire life in the Seven Sisters area. Through her involvement in social and support activities of the community, she met the love of her life Jack Howcroft, whom she married in 1946. She was always so active in the local Hospital Guild, the Community Club and the St. Paul Lutheran Church in River Hills. She was known for her baking, cooking and catering, for her sewing and quilting and for her prize winning flower beds. The products of her accomplishments were generously shared with family, friends, the church and the needy. Her motto was “It is the loving and giving that makes life worth living.”
There was a Visitation at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19. Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in River Hills, MB.
Carole thanks the doctors, the nursing and housekeeping staff at the Beausejour District Hospital who were so good to Elsie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in River Hills or to a charity of your choice.
