1919- 2016
On October 19, 2016, our Mother Emma passed away peacefully at Calvary Place. We rejoice that by her faith she is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, reunited with her husband William (Bill), her parents, brothers and sisters and friends before her.
Mom was born in Lydiatt, MB Dec. 17, 1919 and attended the local school. After school she was employed in Winnipeg for several years before going to Toronto to seek new adventures. Upon her return she renewed her acquaintance with Bill and they married in 1941. Mom was a great partner with our Dad in farming the Storsley family homestead for over 55 years. During her last few years on the farm she was employed with Home Care and Beausejour Locker Plant. Our mother was a very talented and creative person with designing and sewing clothes, gardening, cooking and baking.
They raised 5 children on the farm and saw to it that each one received a post secondary education. She enjoyed her children and all their talents especially music. Mom loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and could never be with them enough. She will be missed by her children; Sandra Schroeder (Herb), Garry (Gloria), Garnet (Carleigh), Arlene Rattai, and Joan MacKenzie (Jim) along with 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Bill and son-in-law Gerald Rattai.
Our family appreciates the care given by Calvary Place Personal Care Home in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emma’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
A private family celebration of Emma’s life will be held at a later date.
