It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Raymond Champagne. Ray passed away on his 86th birthday at the Pinawa Hospital with his family by his side.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Bernice, their children Curtis (Rob), Ken (Karen), Connie, Kim (Simon) and Bev (Ritch), grandchildren Mikaela, Ava, Jack, Danielle (Steven), Aidan and Austin, great-grandchildren, Christian, Mason and Leighton. He will also be missed by his sister Dorothy, sisters-in-law Margaret and Janine, and brothers Earl (Doreen), Dennis (Irene), Alan (Sheila) and Garry along with many nieces and nephews.
Ray was pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Elsie, his in-laws Peter and Mary Kulbaba, his sister Alvina (Bill) and brother Fern.
Although Ray left school when he was just a young boy (Grade 4), he had an inherent intuition about how things worked and was able to identify problems and solve them. This skill and ability were nothing short of amazing. He was a brilliant mechanic.
Ray was an honest, respectful and hardworking man. He was generous with his time and eager to help. He enjoyed old-time music and was a graceful dancer.
He touched many lives and will be missed deeply.
Our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bruneau, all the nurses and staff at the Pinawa Hospital for their care and compassion.
As per Ray’s request, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held.
Please join us to share memories of Ray at a come and go gathering starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Lac du Bonnet Pioneer Club, 32 Park Avenue, Lac du Bonnet, MB.
