Gertrude Hodkinson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gertrude Hodkinson.

She will be forever remembered by her son Russ (Lorene); grandson Cody; granddaughters Julie (Brad), Blair (Alex); great grandsons Leon, Colton and Darion and her brother Edward; sisters Edith, Lenora and Judy.

Predeceased by her son Roger (1982); her parents; brothers and sisters; her friend Lila (2024) and her pet dog Penny (2024).

Gertrude was born in Beausejour, Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm, married in 1958 and raised two sons. She was also a foster mom for a short time. She worked as a seamstress for Palliser Furniture and retired in 2003. She enjoyed sewing, mending clothes and replacing zippers in jackets for her grandchildren. Baking was another passion; date slice, shortbread, and peanut butter marshmallow squares. She was an avid gardener with vegetables and flowers. She would be available to lend a hand wherever needed. Generous with gifts. She was witty with her sense of humor which would catch you off guard with her remarks. She was so proud when she sold her cottage in Lac du Bonnet to purchase her own house, and also proud when she bought herself a new car.

A private family service with interment will be held at the Greenwald Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
