1934 ~ 2013
Gladys Neurenberg, age 79, beloved wife of Edward of Lac Du Bonnet, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Pinawa Hospital. It is with heavy hearts we say good bye to our wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Gladys lived her life devoting herself to her husband and family. She leaves to mourn her husband Edward of fifty nine years, her children Cameron (Alicia) Neurenberg, Carol-Lee (Barry) Augustine, Alan (Tracy) Neurenberg, Gailyn (Dave) Wytinck. Her granddaughter Enika (Kyle) Zirk, Olan and Auriane, granddaughter Jenneth (Trevor) Johanson, Wyndham and William, grandchildren Neil, Ashley and Randi Augustine; Braden, Calan and Niklas Neurenberg and Jaxson Wyntinck. Gladys was predeceased by her parents William and Natalie Fiebelkorn, her sister Lilly Borkowsky, her brother Carl Fielbelkorn and her grandson Heiden Neurenberg. Mom was born in Friedensfeld, Manitoba on May 26, 1934.
She was raised in Lowland, MB on their family farm. Gladys married Edward Neurenberg on November 13, 1953 and they started their own farming career in Stead, MB. In 1965 they moved to Lac du Bonnet where they farmed with their sons until 2004. Mom spent the years in Lac du Bonnet as a homemaker, putting her family first. Over the years she worked for Canada Post, Elections Canada and as a dietary aide at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for many years. In her “free time” mom loved to tend to her large vegetable garden canning and freezing whatever she could. Her dill pickles, apple pies and perogies were coveted by her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross and was a member of the choir until her illness made it too difficult. Mom was a very outgoing lady who loved visiting with family and friends. Mom’s very caring nature and upbeat personality embraced her family and friends who enjoyed spending time with both her and Dad.
Mom devotedly stood by her husband and spent her last years quietly dealing with her illness while putting all her focus and energy on the health and well-being of her husband. Her selfless strength, courage and grace during difficult times has been inspiring to those who love her.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Cancer Care Team and the staff at the Pinawa Hospital who cared for our Mother throughout the years that she received treatment. Thank you to their friends who made regular visits to the hospital and meant so much to her. May our mother rest in peace.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 253 McArthur Ave., Lac du Bonnet, MB.
