Gustave (Gus) Charles Wruck, DVM

February 13, 1940 — April 27, 2025

Dr. Gustave Wruck (Gus) died on the evening of April 27, 2025 at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home with Marline by his side. Gus was a resident there for a mere 2 weeks. He was tended to by all staff with tenderness and loving care for this brief period in his life. Previously he was a patient at the Pinawa Hospital with which he received such admirable care also. Dr. Bruneau and Dr. Papetti were also a gift in Gus’s life at this difficult time.

Gus was born in Iowa on February 13, 1940 and later the family moved to Minnesota where they farmed. Gus was the eldest of 8 children and took his role in farming very seriously. After high school he entered the University of Minnesota where he earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine and several years later a Masters in Pharmacology.

Gus and Marline married in 1961 and were Blessed with two children; Cindy who lives in Regina, and Dan, married to Lisa with two spectacular children, Ian and Sean who live in North Carolina.

After graduation, Gus and family moved to Selkirk, Manitoba where he practiced medicine in a large and small animal practice. He also had a practice in Lac du Bonnet for two years.

The highlight of Gus’s career is when he received a call from the Canadian International Development Agency and asked if he would consider taking on a 4 year term in Swaziland, Southern Africa to assist farmers in the raising of dairy cattle. It took absolutely no time at all to say yes. Therefore the family moved and positive life-changing events occurred.

After 4 years they moved back to Lac du Bonnet and two years later had another invitation for three years to assist farmers in Lesotho, Southern Africa.

All of Gus’s accomplishments throughout his life would be impossible to list. Those of you who knew him would be aware of this.

Gus was a man of true integrity and principle in whatever he took on in his 85 years of life. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, a father and grandfather, and a friend to so many. Upon retirement and moving to Lac du Bonnet he was voted in as Councillor and then Reeve of the R.M. of Lac du Bonnet. He took on numerous committee roles which he was passionate about and helped with these groups to make Lac du Bonnet a growing community. In all of this he was a gentle and quiet man but I feel profound in what he offered in his life to our World.

If you wish to make donations in his honour please contact the Lac du Bonnet & District Charitable Foundation: 204-345-2748 or www.lacdubonnetfoundation.ca. It would be appreciated if donations through the Foundation would be directed to the Lac du Bonnet High School for students entering any form of medical study. Gus was a true advocate of this in his giving.

You are now resting in God’s Loving Arms.

With much Love, Marline, Cindy & Dan
