Harold "Spotty" Lawrence Ott

October 4, 1930 — September 19, 2024

VE4 HLO

Surrounded by the love of family, Harold “Spotty” Ott passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19th at the Beausejour Hospital.

He will be forever remembered by his one love, Cora and their children Alice and Allan Young, Sandy and Les Singbeil and his precious grandchildren: Kaitlyn and partner Rylan and Travis and partner Kendra.

Family was everything to Harold. He is survived by his brother Art (Rebecca), sister Charlotte and brother Gordy and sister-in-law Nettie. He is held dear by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Harold was born in Beausejour on October 4, 1930, to Henry and Emily Ott. Over the years he built roads, drove trucks for Naaykens, and was the galleon operator at AECL in Pinawa.

Spotty was a man of service, to his church, his neighbours, his community. Many organizations will miss his willingness and dedication to making his community a better place. He and his “blue boy” could be seen organizing many a parade, he was a tireless worker for the Lions Club, and he was always ready to serve.

Spotty loved being outdoors. Hunting and fishing were passions, and he loved a long drive, exploring new places. He was an avid Ham Radio operator, VE4 HL0, and loved connecting with folks around the world.

Spotty was a positive man, always with a smile, a twinkle in his blue eyes and a quick one liner. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Partyka, Dr. Vishnu and the staff of the Beausejour Hospital. You are truly angels.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, followed by a lunch at the Brokenhead River Community Hall, Beausejour Room.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Box 538, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
