May 3, 1913 to December 9, 2010
Isabel Mary Kubish passed away peacefully at East Gate Lodge on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the age of 97 years.
She was born in Beausejour on May 3, 1913, where she remained all her life, her early years with her parents, helping with farming and later married to Nickolas Kubish and became a homemaker, gardener and helping Dad with the farming. In 1973, they left the farm and moved to a home in Beausejour, where she enjoyed her garden, outdoor flowers and perennials and was very passionate about African Violets, which she nurtured by the dozen and many family members and friends were gifted with. Travelling became one of her enjoyments. Hawaii, Florida, Arizona and several bus trips to Alaska being a highlight of trips. She was involved with the Agricultural Society for many years, the Catholic Womens League of St. Mary Church and canvassed for the Cancer Society for several years. She loved playing cards, cribbage and canasta get-togethers with her friends at each others homes. Family was very important to her. She was happiest when they all congregated at her home during family reunions. In 2004, Alzheimer Disease made it necessary for her to reside at East Gate Lodge Nursing Home.
She was predeceased by her husband Nickolas, her parents, Edward and Catherine Keilback, sister Marguerite Lachowski, brothers Joseph, Edward and Alvin. She is survived by her only son Donald and daughter-in-law Virginia, sister Audrey Koslack, sisters-in-law Irene and Vera, as well as many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all the staff on Shamrock and Rose Units at East Gate for their wonderful care during the past six years, and friends and family that visited Mom throughout the years.
Prayers will be said on Sunday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Avenue, Beausejour. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m., also at the church with Rev. Fr. Owen Steeves presiding. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Lesko, Gary Koslack, Kevin Omichinski, Edward Keilback, Carl Bangert and Brian Bangert.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in her memory may be made to East Gate Lodge or the Alzheimer Society.
