It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jim was called home on January 24, 2025 at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his loving wife Sandra of 46 years; his daughter Laura (Chris) and son Mark; grandsons Zachary and Theoren; sister Joyce and brother Don (Janet); brother-in-laws Richard (Donna) and Archie and sister-in-law Anna (Ron); numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, a great-great niece; aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim also leaves behind his beloved dog Bailey.
Jim is predeceased by his parents Micheal and Jean Rogocki, in-laws John and Elsie Marynewich, sister-in-law Pat Marynewich and brother-in-law Bob Jackson.
Jim was born on August 28, 1953, in Beausejour, Manitoba. He began working at Atomic Energy of Canada in 1974 as a laborer, later transitioning into the position of stores operator. Jim held this position until his retirement in 2009, after 35 years of dedicated service. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Sandra, and they married on August 12, 1978.
Outside of work, Jim loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He found peace and enjoyment in spending time in nature, cherishing the many stories that came with each experience. Jim was also known for always having the right tools for any situation. Whether fixing something around the house or helping out in times of need, he was always prepared, and his practical knowledge was invaluable.
Jim's family meant everything to him, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. As much as he loved his kids, his true love was for his grandsons. Jim’s pride in his grandsons, Zachary and Theoren, was evident in every moment he spent with them. Whether it was cheering them on at their hockey games or spending quality time together, Jim made sure to be there for every important moment in their lives. Jim also had a love for travel and cherished the many memorable trips he took with his family to places like British Columbia, Florida, Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, where they made unforgettable memories together.
While Jim was often quiet spoken, he had strong opinions and always stood his ground. Once he got to know someone, he was open to conversation, though he could be very passionate about his beliefs—especially when it came to politics. Jim was a man who valued honesty and integrity, and his straightforward approach to life left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jim's legacy will live on in the love he shared with his family, the lessons he imparted to those who were lucky enough to know him, and the unwavering support he gave to everyone around him. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and dedication, whose life touched the hearts of many.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Abbott and the nursing staff at Grace Hospital who took care of Jim in his final days.
