Jeanne Dupont

At Actionmarguerite Saint-Vital, on Sunday, June 7, 2020, our dear mother, Jeanne Dupont (née Caya) passed peacefully with family at her side at the age of 88.

She will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by her children: Ephrem (Louise), Pauline (Royal), Monique (Frank), Nicole (Brian), Noël, Rachel (Aimé), grandchildren: Nathalie (Jérémie), Christian (Josée), Pierre (Stacey), Janelle (Patrick), Patrick, Charlie (Yuki), Shelley (Trevor), Kevin (Ashley), Heather (Zach), Chantal (Thomas), Donald (Sara), Luc (Ashley), Joanne and great-grandchildren: Lylie, Sean, Emily, Mélodie, Oscar, Arthur, William, Callum, Graham, Owen and Sloane.

Jeanne leaves to mourn her sister Yvette, sisters-in-law Catherine, Annette and Claire, numerous cousins, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Elphège and Rose-Anna, by her beloved husband Maurice, her cherished grandson André, her siblings: Jean-Paul, Conrad, Roland, Marie-Ange, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.

Jeanne was caring, thoughtful and devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Education, morals, work ethics and religion were important and influenced her in the upbringing of her children and were reflected as well in the upbringing of her grandchildren.  She was a lady of few complaints, a woman with welcoming arms who never put herself first.  She easily made friends and lasting impressions; be it through knitting, quilting, walking, cooking, travelling, playing cards, bowling and through the many other activities in which she participated.

Being an avid knitter and quilter, her gift of quilts, crocheted blankets, knitted sweaters, tuques and mittens will be forever treasured by her children and grandchildren.  As the exciting announcement of the up-coming arrival of a great-grandchild occurred; the knitting needles started ticking instantly.  All received a newborn tuque and in between family births; she knitted hundreds and hundreds of tuques for the newborns and preemies at the Saint-Boniface Hospital.  She walked from her apartment in Saint-Vital to personally deliver them every month or so.

During her time at Foyer Valade, staff had to constantly remind her that she could finally enjoy retirement and that it wasn’t necessary for her to look after the other residents.  She also often talked about her project of knitting lap blankets to keep warm the residents of Foyer Valade.

Her strong faith guided her actions in her everyday life, community and church.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Actionmarguerite Saint-Vital (Foyer Valade) where Jeanne enjoyed her final years.

Due to Covid 19, a private Celebration of Life and interment for immediate family only will be held in Saint-Georges, MB.
