It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of both our beloved mother, Joan Phyllis Niemi, on December 16, 2024 and our beloved father, Melvin Adelbert Niemi on December 18, 2024.

Left with treasured memories are their three children Wesley (Jo-Ann), Douglas (Marj), and Wendy (Rob); their six grandchildren Angela, Dale, Brayden (Tasha), Kelsey (Brett), Dylan and Kailey; and great-granddaughter Lexi.

Mom and Dad were married for 69 years and resided in Pointe du Bois all their lives until 2022 when they were convinced to move to Lac du Bonnet.

Mom was a giving person who took great pride in her family. She enjoyed seeing the neighborhood cats and watching the birds - making sure all had food.

Dad was a quiet man that loved family visits, always thanking you for the visit on your way out. Dad had a twinkle in his eye when we talked about the grandchildren and his great-granddaughter Lexi. While living in Pointe, there was nothing better than a sauna.

We extend thanks to Mom and Dad’s neighbors for being such helpful and caring people. A big thank you to Lisa Kroeker, their nurse practitioner, for her care over the last couple of years. Thanks to the staff at HSC in Winnipeg for their care for Mom, and to the doctors and staff at Pinawa Hospital for the excellent care and compassion given to Dad.

As per Mom and Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

Donations can be made in Mom and Dad’s memory to the Humane Society and CancerCare Manitoba.
