L. A. (Bud) Wingate

August 27, 1929 ~ June 13, 2011


After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Buddy passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011 with his family by his side. He was born Lawrence Allen Wingate on August 27, 1928 in Winnipeg, MB. Bud is predeceased by his parent Fred and Kitty, his brother Fred Jr. and his childhood sweetheart and the mother of his children, Marguerite Wingate (nee Williamson).

Bud loved life and experienced life through family, friends and travel, spending time in the Bahamas, Phoenix, Vancouver and California. In his younger days, he worked as a fireman with CNN Railroad. Bud and Marguerite married in Winnipeg in 1952 and moved to Vancouver. Then left Canada in 1962 and took his young family to California where he worked with his brother and cousin in the flooring industry. Bud returned to his father’s corrage in Lac du Bonnet in 1980 and made it the home it is today In his semi retirement he went to work putting down a lot of flooring in the Lac du Bonnet and surrounding area.

Bud leaves behind his loving daughter Debra (Dale) of Lac du Bonnet, loving son Glen (Rita) of Auburn, California, four grandsons, his wife Eleanor and her children Joni, Susan and Nelson, along with many friends that he considered extended family.

As per Bud’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service held at this time but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Linn Stenberg and the nursing staff at Pinawa Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, donations in Bud’s memory may be made to the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home or to a charity of one’s choice.

Life is short and it is said that it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
