Lawrence Harvey Buss

March 28, 1946 — March 28, 2012

1946 ~ 2012

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Lawrence Harvey Buss on Sunday, March 4, 2012.  Lawrence passed away peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital. He was born on February 22, 1946.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Lydia Buss, brother Herman and brothers in-law George Mandzuk and Gordon Merke.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory, siblings Eileen Merke, Joyce (Gordon) Klepatz, Oscar (Merri) Buss, Agnes Mandzuk, Emily (Don) Roguski, Shirley (Bob) Wasyluk, Wilfred Buss, Darlene (Glenn) Keilback, Carol (Allan) Briese, Sharon (Larry) Goritz and Betty (Leonard) Goritz, one sister in-law, Elfriede Buss, also  many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was born in Golden Bay, MB.  In 1953, at the age of 7, the family moved to Whitemouth.  He worked hard on the farm helping with chores and cleaning the barn with horse and stone boat.

In 1982 he moved to Beausejour to live with his parents and attend ACL.  Here he took it upon himself to tell others to “get to work”.  It didn’t take long for him to realize he didn’t want to go back to the farm.  He moved into William House in 1988.  They soon discovered him to be a very early riser.  Up at 5:00, breakfast at 6:00 and where is the van to pick him up for ACL.

Lawrence was always cheerful and happy when family and friends came to visit, most especially if they came from Calgary or Toronto.

Lawrence was an inspiration to all who knew him with his great courage and his tolerance of pain.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with Pastor Bart Coleman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Association for Community Living, Beausejour Branch,  Zion Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who worked with Lawrence over the years.  You are all very special.  A big thank you to William House, to ACL and to Dr. Campbell and staff of the Beausejour Hospital. “God Bless You All”
