Lily Weslak (nee Mardynalka)

Grief is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but can’t. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Lily on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the age of 92.

Mom was born July 30, 1932 to Ann and Nick Mardynalka. She was one of 14 children. Mom went to school, worked, got married and farmed alongside her husband. She spent her entire life in the Hadashville area.

Mom loved to do things outside. If she had a choice, she would never come in the house. She enjoyed watching things grow, game shows, planting trees, cutting and chopping wood, feeding birds among many other things. For over 30 years, mom used a wall calendar like a diary. She recorded the daily temperature, what we did, who visited: all her life events.

Mom worked hard all her life. She did the best she could for everyone. Now it’s her turn to rest in heaven.

She will be sadly missed by her son David and daughter Penny, sisters Sophie Dudych and Lena Senkow, brothers Edward, William and Frank, sister in-law Elsie Mardynalka as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Lily was predeceased by her daughter Theresa, husband Joseph, parents Nick and Ann, siblings Andrew, John, Mike, Dan, Mary, Pauline, Walter and infant sister Katy.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Come share a memory or story about Lily.
