Lorraine Carolyn Palmer (Nee Liberty)

On Saturday May 14, 2022 our beloved Lorraine passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 73. Lorraine was born on November 18, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Christine and Leonard Liberty.

Lorraine leaves behind to mourn her daughter Alana Palmer, son Dax Henderson and his wife Trish, her grandchildren Tori (Michael), Jordan, Ethan, and Zachary, Zoe, Tia and great granddaughter Myla.

She was predeceased and will finally be reunited with her loving husband Barry whom she missed dearly, daughters Andrea Candace Henderson and Dena Elaine Henderson and parents Christine and Leonard Liberty.

Family was always her first priority. She would drop everything and run at a moment’s notice. We could always count on her no matter what. Her grandchildren were the absolute light of her life and she spent every possible moment with them. If the grandkids were out of school they were usually at Granny’s house.  She was a very open, easy going, understanding and loving person who got along with everyone. Dena, Dax and Alana’s friends were always jealous that their moms weren’t as cool as Lorraine! She was always willing to help anyone in need and her door was always open. Over the years she had plenty of family and friends come live with her. She was truly the rock of our family and we will miss her dearly. Life will not be the same without our Mom. Thank you for giving us so much love and putting us on the right path.

Lorraine enjoyed all road trips but the spur of the moment trips to Kenora with the grandkids or to Thunder Bay to visit family will always hold fond memories. Lorraine was quite talented with construction projects, she and Barry were always fixing or building something! With their own hands they built the house in which they raised their family and then continued to build homes for their children as they left the nest. She also enjoyed watching Jets games and was an avid reader. Mom had a healthy appetite; grapes, blueberries, raspberries, a Combo B plate from Lee’s and Chicken Delight Chicken wings with a small gravy for dipping to name a few.

In her younger years Lorraine was quite active in the community. She was involved with preparing food hampers and baby layettes, volunteered for Togs n’ Treasures and helped out at the Beausejour Legion Branch 132. In 1983 she was elected Councillor for Ward 3 in the RM of Reynolds. She also served as Chairperson for Child and Family Services. After that she went on to serve as Chairperson for East Gate Lodge and helped design Stony Plains Terrace. Over the years she has received numerous Certificates of Appreciation for her work in the community.

Special thanks to Scotty at Beausejour Hospital for always taking such good care of Lorraine. She always spoke very highly of you.
