Manfred Psoch

March 28, 1937 — March 28, 2013

1937 ~ 2013

Manfred Psoch passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct 28, 2013 at the Pine Falls Hospital at the age 76.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Ursula (nee Ludowig) of St. Georges, MB. He will be lovingly remembered by his children George (Carla), Nicole (Patrick) and Belinda (David), and grandchildren Tyler, Tyson, Giselle and Monique.

Manfred was born on May 18, 1937, in Dortmund, Germany to Gottfried and Charlotte Psoch. In 1960 he married Ursula Ludowig and together with their young son George, immigrated to Canada in 1965. He began his career with Manitoba Hydro, settling in Great Falls, MB, and daughter Nicole was born soon after. He often reminisced about the great times he had playing accordion in a band during their time there. In 1969, Manfred permanently transferred to Gillam, MB and two years later daughter Belinda was born.  He worked hard to provide for his family and after 30 years of dedicated service, he retired from Hydro in 1994. Manfred and Ursula moved to St. Georges, MB and to the home and property he truly loved.

Manfred was a man of many talents and interests. He could fix just about anything. He enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful pieces of furniture and carvings. He liked gardening and growing different types plants and trees. He made his own wine from the berries and fruit he grew.  An avid fisherman for years, he would spend hours in his boat on the river; and he made the best smoked fish. He was an avid reader and was very knowledgeable in many subjects.  He loved all animals and there was always a dog on his lap whenever he sat in his chair.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the EMTs, doctors and nurses of the Pine Falls Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Manfred and our family during his stay.  Your kindness will never be forgotten.

At Manfred’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial with friends and family will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a blood donation to Canadian Blood Services.

We miss you dad!
