November 22, 1925 ~ August 9, 2014
On the morning of August 9, 2014, Margaret Ford made her final trip to meet her Father. Marg leaves to mourn her sister Florence (Roger) Dandenault, and her brothers Edward (Sue) Ford and Sonny (Polly) Ford. She also leaves to grieve her dozens of admiring nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends from Pine Falls Manitoba, especially Norma.
Marg was predeceased by her parents Alma and Fred Ford, her sisters Kay (Jack) Anderson, Madeleine (Doug) Hicks, nephew James Ford and special niece Diane Anderson.
Marg spent her life competing and excelling in sports. Growing up, this was rather uncommon for young women, but instead of shying away from a male dominated field, she thrived in it.
She was inducted into the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame in 2006, having represented Manitoba at the national level ten times. Her passion for the sport took her travelling around the world. Marg also loved curling, bowling, tennis, and a good game of cards.
When she was no longer able to play, she became an avid armchair commentator and coach.
In golfing and in life, Marg was a straight shooter. We always knew what was on her mind -much to the chagrin of her family, friends, and a few innocent bystanders. She was sharp as a whip, and her witty one-liners will be sorely missed.
For such a little lady, she packed a lot of punch but it all came from a place of love. She was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt, who taught many nieces and nephews how to drive, golf, play cards and curl. Spending time with “Aunt Marg” was the highlight of any trip to Pine Falls. She hosted minor hockey players, golfers in the Northeastern, and curling teams. For as long as she could, she would drive out to Winnipeg or St.Pierre-Jolys for birthday parties, dinners and special events. She never missed them.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 11:30 a.m. at Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church in Powerview, MB. Prayers will be held half an hour prior at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
“God has you in his keeping
We have you in our hearts
Rest in Peace Marg.”
