1913 ~ 2012
Margaret MacDonald passed away at the Beausejour Hospital on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.
She was born in the log cabin on the Turner family homestead 3 miles west of Beausejour in the Sebright area. She died just 3 days short of her 99th birthday. Margaret lived a full life. She travelled, she loved sports, she enjoyed hunting and fishing, blueberry picking and camping. Golf was a favorite pastime in the summer and curling and skating in the winter.
At 27, she married David MacDonald, a school teacher and thus, moved all around Manitoba. He passed away in 1957 and then, the independent woman that she was, she set off to Vancouver to get her Practical Nursing License. She was a caring and compassionate woman. Nursing took her first back to Beausejour and then on to Sioux Lookout. During this time she signed on with the medical ship “CD Howe” which took her way up north to nurse the Eskimo and Inuit people.
Even though she had no children of her own, her many nieces and nephews were “her kids”. Just this spring, Auntie Margaret was seen at the Beausejour Arena cheering on a great great great nephew.
Margaret was a sincere Christian and prayer warrior. Her bible study group was very important to her. In her life time, Margaret was very generous to t hose in need. Many people were the recipients of her boundless energy and her kind heart. Everywhere she went and everything she did centered around friends and family. Margaret’s adventures and misadventures were well known by all her friends, far and wide.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband, her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
