Margaret Skaronek (Nee Spreen)

1926 ~ 2014

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness, but loving memories, that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margaret on November 8, 2014 at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home.   Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her son Dwight (Jeanne), daughter Elana (Don), grandchildren Nicholas, (Mandy), Dillon (Tabitha), Crystal (Robin), Dallas (Alora), Waylon (Ashley), Callan, Shawna (Joey), and great grandchildren, Zander, Hadley, Devin, Chase, Hayden, Weston, Payton & Presley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Nick, her parents Martin & Meta Spreen, her brothers Walter and Martin, sisters, Adele, Helen, Edna and her son-in-law Allan Sytnick.

Mom lived a very full life. She loved the family farm where she was born, raised and lived for most of her 88 years. Even though mom struggled with dementia, it was a place she never ever forgot was her home and always talked of going back to Grand Beach. Mom was a very generous person and always opened her home to everyone. No one ever left her home without a cup of coffee, tasty meal or a “snipitz” of apricot brandy. She took great pride in her gardening, cake decorating and fashion. Her huge gardens provided countless people with fresh vegetables over the years. Many may remember mom or were lucky enough to receive one of her very “personalized” birthday or wedding cakes. She was also proud of her bus driving career which extended over 17 years with the Lord Selkirk School Division.

Above all mom held very strong family ties. She was the strength of our family. She never hesitated to pick up the phone or take a drive to support a family member or friend. Her legacy of love is seen in every smile and tear shed for her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nursing staff at the Personal Care Home in Lac du Bonnet who always made mom feel so special and at home, provided her with compassion and dignity, enjoyed her sense of witty humor and her “tiny fist”.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly.
