The evening of December 13, 2021, with his sister by his side, Matthew Anthony Keilback crossed over to soar with the angels.
Matthew was born on November 17, 1988. At the age of 33, this young man had more patience, wisdom and strength then most of us will acquire in a lifetime. For us it seems too soon, but for him, the timing was just right. He has found his peace and left this world a better place.
Matthew was predeceased by his devoted and loving mother, Darlene. The bond they shared was like no other, and there is no doubt they are having the happiest reunion right now. Matthew leaves strong lasting memories with many, most specifically his father, Glenn (Debbie), sister Joanne (Jake), and brother Tom (Danika). He also leaves behind three bright stars who made him an Uncle; Serena, Nathan & Claire.
At a few months of age, Matthew was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. This limited his cognitive abilities but never impacted his playful spirit. As he got older, his medical challenges continued to increase but he never complained. Throughout multiple surgeries, minor illnesses, hospital stays and various medication, he pushed on. His mood always remained positive, and by example he has shown us all that no matter the obstacle, life is worth living and we should never give up.
To know Matthew was to love him! His magnetic personality, his kind, gentle heart full of forgiveness and love. He graced others with a calmness and sincere joy for the simple things in life. His biggest smiles came when he was with family & friends, animals, listening to music or enjoying the water.
It is with much gratitude that we thank Matthew’s long time physician Dr Nick, and various doctors, nurses and caregivers he has had along his journey. We also extend our gratitude to Inclusion Selkirk, which has provided Matthew a wonderful home these past few years.
In lieu of flowers to honour Matthew’s memory, please open your hearts wide and help someone in need in whatever way you can. If you so desire, a donation may be made in Matthew’s name to Inclusion Selkirk, 306 Jemima Street, Selkirk, MB R1A 1X1.
