Maureen Marcinkow

March 28, 1954 — March 28, 2020

1954 ~ 2020

Peacefully and after a long journey, Maureen passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Irene, brother Dennis, father and mother-in-law Frank and Anne, sister-in-law Bev, brother-in-law Wayne and nephew-in-law Markian.  She is survived by her husband Tim, daughter Ashley (David), son Bradley (Cassandra) and granddaughters Leah and Emma.  She is also survived by her stepfather Steve, sister Pat, her brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephew.

Maureen was born in Beausejour and graduated from Beausejour Senior School.  She moved to the “big city” and worked at Pioneer Grain for 7 years.  She met Tim and after they married they settled in Beausejour.  She then began her 35 year career for the Manitoba government.

We couldn’t have asked for a more devoted mother.  She attended countless hockey games and piano recitals, helped us with anything and everything and called a million times “just to talk”.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she would have spent every waking minute with them if she could have.  She enjoyed travelling with her friends, volunteering and planting beautiful flower beds.  Mom loved people – she’d strike up a conversation and make a friend anywhere.  Even in the grocery line, much to our embarrassment.  She spent hours entertaining friends with an open door.  No one was a stranger and you left, fed, watered and entertained.  She clipped coupons and found deals only to turn around and use her savings to donate to a charity or treat a friend to lunch.  Her generosity and warmth knew no bounds.  Mom faced any struggle with a vibrant and positive attitude.

We are forever grateful to Dad, without him mom would have never come this far.  Thank you to Dr. Partyka, Dr. Anang, P.A. Persad, nurse Kacee, the staff at the Beausejour Hospital and all of her Home Care Attendants for their kind and compassionate care.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Parkinson Canada.

Our hearts are missing a piece that we can never get back.  You taught us by example how to make the world a better place.
