Michael “Mike” Bouvier

June 19, 1948 — October 15, 2023

June 19, 1948 ~ October 15, 2023

In the early evening on October 15, 2023, surrounded by his family at home, the Lord called home his faithful son, Michael Conrad Joseph Bouvier, after his battle with cancer.

Michael was born on June 19, 1948, in Pine Falls, Manitoba, to the Aime and Antoinette Bouvier. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen (née Chevrefils), his children Raymond, Roland, Angel (Patrick), Monique (Daniel), and Donald (Carlee), and his adored grandchildren Hudson, Hailey, Hunter, Maxton, Emett, Everlee, and Ayla. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, touching the lives of his siblings Judy Austin, Eddie (Bonnie), Irene (Henry) Pelland, Henri Pee-Wee (Lois), Robert (Andrea), David (Debbie), Leon, Daniel, and Jerome Bouvier. He is also survived by in-laws Lillian (Henry) Malo, Alice, Lionel (Dolly); Sister Alice, Romeo (Margaret), Linda (Maurice) Desautels. He is predeceased by his parents Aime and Antoinette, sister Anita Bouvier, brothers-in-law Fred Austin and Donat, Lawrence, Albert, Alain, Sylvio, and sister-in-law Cecile Chevrefils.

Mike grew up in St. Georges, Manitoba, surrounded by a large, loving family. He helped out at the Bouvier store, and he enjoyed various sports, where he met his future wife, Maureen. Later, during his teenage years, Michael moved to the city to attend College St. Boniface. Afterward, he returned to St. Georges and married Maureen in 1972. Together, they built a life, raising their family with love and dedication.

Michael dedicated much of his life to his work at the Pine Falls Paper Mill, where he started as a welder and ascended to managerial roles before retiring. He was involved in various town committees, church activities, and as a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a father figure to many, coaching sports, organizing tournaments, and always making time for a family ballgame in the backyard.

In his retirement years, Michael found solace in his hobbies, particularly woodworking, and took great joy in cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens. His generosity knew no bounds, and his garage was a welcoming space for friends and neighbors. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Father Sebastian, the dedicated homecare and palliative care team, Dr. Puff and Nurse Laura, for their unwavering support and care.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Notre Dame du Laus Roman Catholic Church, 38 Laura St., Powerview, MB. Prayers will commence at 12:30 p.m., followed by Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at St. Georges Cemetery, with a gathering for family and friends in the church basement thereafter.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, in Michael’s honor.

During this challenging time, the family is deeply appreciative of the outpouring of love and prayers.

“The Crown of Righteousness is given to all those who look forward to His return—those who fight the good fight of faith, who have finished the race and who have kept the faith.”
Timothy 1:18-20
