1932 ~ 2014
Suddenly, on December 31, 2014, with family by her side, our very loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, peacefully passed away at the Pinawa Hospital.
Ollie was born in Brightstone, Manitoba on December 12, 1932, the 12th of 13 children in the Anna & Alex Soroka family. Mom moved to Winnipeg for work and then returned to Lac du Bonnet and married Laurence in 1951, where they raised their family. Olga was the inspiration and co-owner of Campbell’s Foods in Lac du Bonnet, were she worked along with her sons for almost 30 years. Many a customer missed her when she retired. She loved to sew and knit. Any family member, who wanted a sweater, had at least one knitted Ollie Sweater. In her spare time she would knit mitts, and donate hundreds of pairs yearly, to charities. She loved to visit and coffee with her relatives and friends.
Ollie is predeceased by her parents, her husband Laurence (Dick) of 48 years as well as 11 of her bothers & sisters. She is survived by her children Dick (Bonnie), Jack (Sheilah), Bill (Laurie) and Laurie (Steve), 9 grandchildren, Caryn, Alan, Shaun, Melissa, Sharon, Janet, Laurence, Alex and Katie (spouses and special Friends), 4 great-grandchildren, Colton, Darius, Abigail, Xander and sisters-in-law Pauline, Stella and Olga, as well as many nieces and nephews and long time friends Minnie and Lorette, who all had a special place in her heart.
“Auntie Ollie who wrote the book on love and loyalty – with thanks from the heart for all you do and all you are.” This quote written by niece Maureen describes mom perfectly
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and medical staff for all their kindness and special care provided to our Mother while in Pinawa. Also, a very special thank you to Lisa Kroeker for her long term kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to Lac du Bonnet District Charitable Foundation Inc., Box 744, Lac du Bonnet, MB. R0E 1A0
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, with a family memorial to follow.
Offer Condolence for the family of Olga Campbell (nee Soroka)
