June 26, 1936 ~ October 23, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce to sudden passing of our beloved mom, grandma, baba, sister, and friend. Words cannot express how much we already miss her. We cannot imagine our lives without her love and support.
Born at home on the farm in Tyndall, Manitoba, she was the 3rd of 6 children in a loving family.
Over mom’s lifetime, she wore many hats. She was her era’s version of a renaissance woman, raising 5 children on a farm, growing a huge garden, and becoming good at everything she laid her hands to. Her paid professions included, school teacher, clerk, telemarketer, and secretary. But she was also brilliant with numbers helping the grandkids with math and figuring out how many yards of soil she needed for a garden renovation, handy with a reciprocating saw, able to drywall, and build a cabinet, she was also great at making her own patterns for sewing projects, and cooking a fluffy piroshki or inventing a great cookie recipe. As an avid news consumer she had a great mind and memory for current events and history. She believed in hard work, frugality, faith and family. She was strong, devoted, and independent to her last breath and lived life her way on her own terms. As her children, we have the deepest respect for her and were in awe of her courage and resilience.
She is predeceased by her husband Walter, mother Dora, father Steve and brother Dan.
Olga leaves behind to honour and keep her memory her sons Larry (Ann), Leonard, Stephen (Astrid), and daughters Debbie, and Lesley (John) as well as grandchildren Megan (Sean), Sasha, Eric, Marcus, Sean, Gina, Jenna May, James, Damien, Savana, Josee, great grandchildren Greyson and Delilah, brothers Steve (Eleanor), Joe (Shirley), and sisters Ann, Gerri (Richard) and Betty (wife of Dan).
Please join Olga’s family as they honour her life and legacy. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with interment and reception to follow. Prayers will be said on Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. also at the Chapel. Pallbearers will be Seig Penner, Gary Nazarewich, Cory Kuffner, Sean McDermid, Wayne Nazarewich, and Kevin Fill.
