Patricia Irene Solnes

January 6, 1953 — July 14, 2024

Peacefully on Sunday July 14, 2024, with family by her side, Pat passed away at the Pinawa Hospital at the age of 71.

She was predeceased by her mother Kathleen and father James both in 1996, and her brother Brian in February 2004.

Pat leaves to mourn her husband Robert “Bob” Solnes, sons Cory (Tricia), Trevor (Lisa), her precious grandkids Hunter, Kaya, Jayden, and Kylie. Also to mourn are her brothers and sisters, Earl (Roxanna), Joyce (Albert), Colleen (Ron), Nancy, Mark (Deb), Darcy (Shelley), Florence (Murray) and her numerous nieces and nephews, Michelle, Donna, Erin, Gregory, Erika, Derek, Brian, Sanae, Kaitlin and Rachel. Pet family, Beau, Trigger, and her buddy Teddi.

Pat and Bob met in 1974 and quickly were engaged 3 months later, they were married Sept. 13, 1975, in Lac du Bonnet and celebrated 48 years of marriage. In 1977, Pat and Bob moved to Brookfield and started a family with their first son Cory born in Nov. 1979 and second son Trevor born in Sept. 1982.

Pat had worked several odd jobs around Lac du Bonnet, from restaurant work to working for AECL-Brincheski contracting as cleaning supervisor. Pat moved on to completing her Health Care Aide course and worked in LDB and WM PCH for the next 15 years until her retirement in 2013.

Pat retired and loved spending countless hours with her grandkids, she was a special grandma, a true gem to all of them. Pat put the kids first, whatever they wanted to do she would stop all her chores and play grocery store, cook a batch of cookies or play hide and seek. Pat was there to support them and guide them if they were having a rough day. Hunter, Kaya, Jayden and Kylie, grandma is now your angel watching over you to guide you from Heaven.

Pat was not only a special grandma, but she was also a wonderful, committed wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was always there to support the family business, Brookfield Autobody is successful because all her boys had her support and guidance when it was needed. She was a humble, caring, kind person that always had a smile on her face, it would light up a room. Loved life, loved to gather with friends and family and especially loved her annual trips to Mexico. She loved the ocean and the beach, Pat, I hope you are laying on a beach somewhere enjoying the endless sun and sand.

In July 2021, Pat was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, she fought long and hard and no matter how sick she felt, there was never a complaint, it was always “I’m ok”. She never wanted us to worry about her. Pat you will be forever in our hearts, we love you forever and always.

Special thanks to Dr. Bruneau, Pinawa Cancer Care, Lisa, and Lac du Bonnet Medical Group for all the support and special care. We will forever be grateful to all of you. Thank you to Sobering Funeral Chapel for all their help and direction during this time.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lac du Bonnet Legion, Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Lunch to follow.

In Life we loved you dearly

In death we love you still

In our hearts you hold a place,

That no one could ever fill.
