Paul M. Lapointe

August 4, 1950 — February 28, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Michel Lapointe, who passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Lac du Bonnet, MB, on February 28, 2025, at the age of 74.

Born in Winnipeg on August 4, 1950, Paul is survived by his wife, Linda (née Kaatz), his daughters, Krista (Marwan) and Joelle (Louis-Martin), and his daughter-in-law, Pamela. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Brynn and Jadyn. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Eddie, and his beloved son, Jason.

Paul’s career was a perfect mix of precision and creativity. He excelled in the IT industry before transitioning into contracting, where he could put his passion for building to use and share his knowledge. Though he attempted an early retirement where he and Linda moved to Lac du Bonnet, “The Lake”, his rare and valuable skillset kept him in high demand. After a few years of IT contract work, Paul realized that his true devotion was to his family. With that, he made the decision to step away from this career for good.

After retiring, Paul and Linda started a small endeavour that allowed him to keep his hands busy. He dedicated his time to building everything from decks and framing garages to fixing roofs—all within the community he loved. Paul was always fair and ready to lend a hand. For him, it was never about the money but about helping the people he cared about and making new friendships along the way.

Paul found joy at The Lake—his favorite place to be. Whether it was snowmobiling in the winter or pulling his kids on skis and tubes in the summer, he was always making sure everyone was having fun. He took great pride in his yard, and caring for it brought him happiness. His hands were rarely still—if he wasn’t fixing something, he was building something. And if you were lucky, he was building something for you.

Paul was a jack of all trades and took pride in passing down his skills to his children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and anyone eager to learn. He will be remembered for his wisdom, kindness, devoted love, and infectious smile.

A special thank you to Laura from LDB Palliative Care for her never ending support during this difficult time.

His family and loved ones know he is exactly where he would imagine he’d be in the afterlife; to be sitting by The Lake, laughing with his son Jason, and watching over us all.

At Paul’s request, a funeral service will not take place, but a celebration of life will be held at a future date. Paul believed in finding joy and sharing it with others, and the family asks that you do the same—enjoy something that brings you happiness and share it with those around you.
