Pauline Naaykens (Nee Litke)

September 12, 1928 — April 29, 2020

September 12, 1928 ~ April 29, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Pauline Irene Naaykens on April 29, 2020 at the hospital in Beausejour, Manitoba.

Pauline is survived by her children Sharon (Norbert Sachvie), Debbie (Lorne Winnicki), Brenda (Gary Recksiedler), John (Kim) Naaykens; grandchildren Darren (Dana) Sachvie, Sheri (Brent Huminuk), Kevin (Amanda) Sachvie, Ryan (Hollee) Sachvie, Stacy (Richard Johnson), Kristin (Timothy Hayward), Lindsey (Paul Bortoluzzi), Shauna (Jordan Gmiterek), Kerri (Jason Sachvie), Austen Naaykens (Tessa), Travis Naaykens (Tyrein), her sisters Doreen (Ron Roth), and Violet (Gordon Salway).  She was predeceased by her loving husband John, son-in-law Norbert Sachvie, brothers Bill, Ervin (Alice), Emil (Jean), Fred (Wanda) Litke, and sister Edith (Frank) Molinski.

Pauline was born and raised in Beausejour.  She met John and they married on July 21, 1950.  Over their 56 years together they had four children expanding to eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, all of whom remain close-knit.  Although there is over fifty of us, we all manage to pile into a house or backyard together often to share a meal and a laugh.  Her children and grandchildren have grown up to become more than family but best friends, and her great grandchildren are growing up the same; this we can only describe as the legacy that she left for us.  Family was the centre of her existence and many memories have been made over the years.  She thoroughly enjoyed our frequent family gatherings and we could always count on her to be the last to leave a party.  We will fondly remember her amazing cooking and special treats like apple pie and fudge.  It is with honour that we take on the responsibility of carrying on her family traditions.  Her presence will forever be missed.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff of the Beausejour Hospital for the wonderful care they gave our mom.  A special thanks to Dr. Partyka, Doug, David, Scott and her walking partner Bonnie.

A private service will be held for immediate family.

To Our Mom

Her Journey Just Began

Don’t think of her as gone away

Her journey’s just begun

life holds so many facets

this earth is only one

Just think of her as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days or years

Think how she must be wishing

that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away

and think of her as living

in the hearts of those she touched

for nothing loved is ever lost

And she was loved so much
