Phyllis Evelyn Elenbaas (nee Yaremchuk)

February 25, 1935 — August 7, 2024

Phyllis passed away on August 7, 2024 after a brief illness at the age of 89 years.

Phyllis was born in St. Andrews, MB on a farm in the Melnice Area in 1935. She is survived by her loving husband Joe and 2 sons: Brad (Wendy) of Winnipeg and Brent (Michell) of Pine River, MN as well as 4 grandchildren: Paige (Andrew), Chanel, Madison (Ryland) and Garett (Madelyn). She is also survived by her sister Jean Shmyr.

At age 10, Phyllis and her family moved to Kelowna where she attended Kelowna Schools. She was very active in athletics and loved the Okanagan Valley, its orchards and mountains and mild climate. Phyllis moved back to Manitoba in 1953 to get employment and worked for several years at MTS. She married Joe in 1959. The family briefly lived in Elmwood, then moved to St. Vital for 24 years where they raised their 2 sons and she loved her family very much.  In 1990, Phyllis and Joe moved to East St. Paul. Phyllis and Joe enjoyed their family cottage at West Hawk Lake, and during their retirement years spent many happy months in Palm Springs, CA.

Phyllis and Joe have been active members of the East St. Paul congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. Phyllis has a firm hope in Jesus’ promise of a resurrection on an earthly paradise (John 5:28-29).

A memorial service will be held at the JW Assembly Hall at 227 Lakewood Blvd. on Saturday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m.  The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed via Zoom ID # 87951600958
